IPSEC VPN Setup

1. Go to Settings -> Connections -> More connections -> VPN -> ADD VPN
2. Set the following:

Name: (Any Name You Want)
Type: IPSec Xauth PSK (MUST BE THIS)
Server Address:

IPSec Identifier: (leave section blank)
Pre-Shared Key: witopia
Save

Connecting

1. Click on the name of the VPN to which you wish to connect.
2. Account = Enter your VPN Username*** (will usually be W\YourEmailAddress)
(example: W\johnsmith@gmail.com)

There are two potential formats for your vpn username. You must use the one you selected when you activated your service. If you do not remember, you can log in to your account on our website here here and under your active service it says “USERNAME”. This is your VPN username.

 

#1: Your email = W\your@email.com
#2: WiTopia username = username@witopia

 

You MUST use a Capital W with a backslash “\” if your vpn username is an email.
If you have a username ending in “@witopia” then you do *not* use W\ before the username or “.net” after the username

3. Enter the password you selected at activation
4. Click Save Account Information to have it save the login details
5. Click Connect

You should now be connected to the vpn. If you have any issues please contact us.

Alternate Connection Software

Some clients experience issues with DNS blocking or inability to connect with the core software. This can be caused by other apps installed blocking the connection or carrier modifications causing issues with the core connection. When this happens we suggest trying VPNCilla for the connection. They offer a trial, and if it works you will want need to upgrade to the paid version (not covered under the WiTopia subscription). VPNCilla offers some advantages over the internal software such as auto connect on application start, auto reconnect of connect, manual dns updates, mtu adjustments etc.

Setup VPNCilla

1. Install VPNCilla Trial

2. Open application

3. Click plus sign at top to create new connection

4. Name of the new connection?: anything you want, we suggest the location so Atlanta or London etc

5. Fill the needed items

Server Address:

Group ID: witopia

Group Password: witopia

Account = Enter your VPN Username*** (will usually be W\YourEmailAddress)

Click the “back” key on your device

Your VPN is now setup. To connect click the name of the vpn and it should connect automatically.

If you are having issues connecting, please click the “i” icon listed on the main toolbar in the software to bring up the logs. Then you can click the arrow icon to copy the logs to your clipboard and email or paste via chat. The other option is to click the airplane icon and choose your mail program and email support@witopia.net the logs.
